What is Stingray City?The 'sandbar' at Stingray City is one of, if not the, most visited tourist attractions in the Cayman Islands. This naturally occurring sandbar has never been home to the southern stingray we have all come to know and love. Rather, they have started to come here purposely to see us after years and years of us feeding them. In reality, they come to see us at the sandbar as much as we come to see them so you don't need to be worried about us 'invading' their home. Most importantly, the southern stingrays that visit here are absolutely adorable creatures - we call them underwater puppies. They will swim right up to you and brush alongside you. They're not scared or intimidated and they're happy to have us feed, kiss and hold them. Who can enjoy Stingray City?The short answer is anyone! At Cobalt Custom Charters, your dedicated team will give you a safety briefing before getting into the water but if you still aren't comfortable you can always sit on the back of the boat and we can bring a stingray close enough that you can touch it and see it up close. The water being so shallow and normally quite calm plus the stingrays being so accustomed to human interaction makes this a memorable stop for everyone.
